CV Administrator Instructions

Each BSOS Department has selected an Administrator to keep CVs up to date on the BSOS CV Manager system.  As an Administrator, you will be able to add, modify, and remove faculty profiles and CV links on the CV Management system.

To access administration, follow these steps.

  1. From the public view of the CV system, please select the Administration link at the top right. 
     
  2. The campus login page appears.  Please log in using your University ID (UID or Directory ID) and the related password.
    [Please note that the first time you log in with your Directory ID you will be asked to verify your UID - which is the 9-digit campus ID]
     
  3. When you have successfully logged in, the faculty CV list for your department appears.  The faculty in your department are listed, and next to each of their names is are 2 links:  Modify and Remove.  Clicking a faculty's name will take you to their currently linked CV.
     

I. Modifying the CV Owner Profile / CV Link Information

Selecting the Modify option will open the Add/Update CV Owner page. An example page is shown below.

CV Owner Profile

The CV Owner Profile includes the information that describes the CV Owner:  UID, First Name, Last Name, Email Address, and that person's Department/Role.  The CV Owner Profile is updated separately from the CV Owner's CV link information. 

To modify the CV Owner Profile:

  1. If needed, modify the CV Owner's Name and Email address. 
     
  2. In the box below the Email address, the department(s) that the CV Owner is assigned to are listed.  The first column lists the Department name, the second column shows what access level the user has available - department faculty will be "Faculty", and the last column allows you to Remove someone who is no longer in that department or filling the role listed.
     
  3. When the CV Owner' profile has the correct information, click the Add/Update Profile button to store that information. 
     
  4. If you do not want to update CV link information, select the Finish button. 

CV Link Information

  1. Under the CV link section, there are 3 options:
     
    Option Action
    Link to CV Online Use this option to provide a URL link to a Web page where the person's CV is located. The link will be added to the CV Manager system.  In the Link to: box, please enter the web address where the CV is located, then click the Save Link button.
    Upload CV file Use this option to provide a file where the CV information is located.  The file will be stored to the CV Manager system and a link to it will be created.  This file must be stored on the computer you are currently using.  Please click the Browse button to locate the CV file, select the file, then click the Save File button. 
    Remove CV Information Use this option to remove the CV if it is no longer accurate or available.  Click the Remove CV button.

 

II. Removing a CV Owner

If someone listed as Faculty for your department no longer works for the department, you can remove them. 

  1. Click the Remove button next to their name in your department list. 
     
  2. You will be asked to verify if this person should be removed. 
    If you choose Yes, that person's affiliation with your department will be removed. 
    If the person is not affiliated with any other departments in BSOS, their entire profile will be removed from the system.

III. Adding a New CV Owner

To add a new faculty member to your department and create a CV link for them, do the following.

  1. Click the Add New CV link at the top-middle of the faculty listing page.
     
  2. The CV Owner Profile page appears, as below:

  3. Enter the CV Owner's profile information, starting with the University ID (9-digit UM identification number).  When the cursor is moved from the University ID field, the system will search to ensure that this person's profile is not already stored.  If it is, it will display.
     
  4. Enter the remainder of the profile information, select your department when the option appears, and click the Add/Update Profile button.
     
  5. The CV Information box will appear, as below.
